Elliot
Canto VI
Taking a stroll
Down the passage of time
My friends melt away
Yet I stay the same
A living variable
The x of a hundred equations
A name
And a hodgepodge of memories
Elliot
An old man sits
At the edge of a precipice
“You’re going too fast”
He stares off into the distance
Eternal sunset burning red
“Shouldn’t be here yet.”
I try to step forward
But the light pushes me back
Shadows stretch into a dark pit behind me
Half-turn of the old man’s head
A single burnt out eye socket
“I’ll see you later”
