God was made of metaphors
Before he was a boogeyman…

An incomplete man
With his hands
At his side…

If the fog would ever lift
From this everyday abyss…

The pull of expectation
And reality…

Dirt dragged in
Bare feet on the front lawn…

Place, and the sense of it
A nonexistent membership
For anyone who’s willing
To believe in a lie…

Learning to live life underwater
Learning to breathe so I don’t drown…

A hundred years
Come crumbling down…

The end of the dream
The skin…

Marching to the beat
Of your mental percussion…
