The water retreats
From his hands and his feet
As he fights his way out
Of its liquid embrace
A life and death race
As his strength suffocates
The ocean goes on
In an effortless display
The waves try to break him
Crashing down on him hard
Fatigue is a weight
Pulling towards the sea floor
It all seems quite over
’til at last he sees land
A brisk second wind
Comes to give him a hand
