The eye stands
On a beach with no sand
As the ocean comes down
With the Sun right behind it
It drains with a gurgle
And sinks with a plunk
With no indication
Of where it has sunk
The blink of an eye
That lasts for a night
Carries on through the day
With no end in sight
With no light to eat
And no source of heat
The eye remains silent
While shifting its feet
