Clarion morning
Wake by the sound
The billions of people
Tumbling around
In God’s dryer
A hand reaching down
To pick up a t-shirt
Laid strewn on the ground
Like a man who would wear one
A man who would tear one
As careless in death
As he once was in life
When his wife was in labor
He made for the door
Tried to get back
To where he was before
And no one could save her
So he tried to savor
A memory they shared
That was now only his
And when he was gone
The whole world did forget
The words that were shared
Back on old Nantucket
As filling as lunch
For a love starving heart
Not even the waves
Could tear these two apart
Their love made their lives
Worth living again
Even if it was sowing
The seeds of their end
Once hopelessly lost
Then found just enough
To embrace what they had
And put up with the suffering
Of spinning around
Between sky and the ground
The circular motion
On which we are bound
Will keep going and going
When we disappear
Don’t worry for its sake
All you need is here
